Tell us a little about yourself. How did you first get into writing?
For the past few years, I’ve been co-authoring a slow-burn contemporary reverse harem series with just a touch of intrigue. If you’re interested in exploring a world where the main character is surrounded by a group of amazing guys, each of whom could easily be her dream guy on his own, check out The Stardust Series. The, now complete, series is available on Amazon and FREE on Kindle Unlimited!
Phoenix: Book One of The Stardust Series was my first foray into being a published author, my first attempt at writing romance. My co-author and I were bored at work and joked about what we would do if we had a harem. Now, three years later, we’ve released the final book in the series, and I’m finally releasing my first solo project later this year!
What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
For The Stardust Series, we did a lot of research both at the beginning and throughout the series. Since then, I spend less time researching ahead of time and only look up things as needed. That’s true for both Charms of Attraction and one of my secret projects.
Tell me about your new release or WIP.
Charms of Attraction is a novella that kicks off my Cursed Legacy Series and releases August 21 as part of Realms & Rebels: A Paranormal and Fantasy Reverse Harem Collection!
Katerina Marea has the ability to control minds. With a simple touch and a brief glance, she can have anyone, and anything, she wants—except love. One night is all any man gets, and that’s only if he’s lucky.
But an unexpected reunion with the handsome Declan Ashworth makes Katerina crave normalcy and question all her rules. Then there’s FBI Special Agent Adrian Stone and his partner, Criminal Consultant Elias St. James. If they’re not pressing her for answers, they’re pushing her to let them in.
The three of them have set their sights on Katerina and won’t give up easily. Despite her growing attraction, she’s determined to keep them at arm’s length. She may soon discover that when it comes to matters of the heart, she’s powerless.
Fall in love with Charms of Attraction and 20+ paranormal and fantasy reverse harem romances available exclusively in Realms & Rebels.
Do you plot out your stories or do your character’s voices drive your storyline?
It’s a mixture of both, especially on my solo projects. I tend to have a rough outline, mostly just major events or mile markers. Then, the character’s voices fill in the details of the scene specifics and dialogue.
What character in your book is least likely to get along with you?
I’d like to think that I can get along with anyone, but if I had to choose, I’d say maybe Jackson Hart from The Stardust Series. As the formidable leader of Team Jaguar, I think we may butt heads over our mutual love of control.
What would the main character in your book have to say about you?
Hopefully, that they want to be my friend. But realistically, I think they’d probably curse my name for making them struggle, for forcing them to adapt and change. In the end, I hope they’d thank me for making them a better, stronger person.
Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
Absolutely, I love hidden secrets in books. One example is from The Stardust Series, which I co-authored with Autumn Reed. When we originally brainstormed the character, Haley, we referred to her as “Lucky Girl” or “LG” for the longest time. There’s a chapter in Polaris, the final book of the series titled “Lucky Girl.”
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
It depends. Mostly it energizes me, and I get excited to see how the story will unfold as I watch my word count grow. But other times, it can be very mentally and emotionally exhausting, especially if there’s a more intense scene to be written.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Writing is a pleasure, but knowing that my words have touched someone in some way is the best feeling of all.
What are common traps for aspiring writers?
Thinking you have to have it all planned out before you start.
Not being consistent with your writing habits. The more you write, the faster and better the words flow.
Not hiring a solid editor.
I recently started a blog – Pen to Paper. If you’re an aspiring writer, or even a seasoned one, I encourage you to check it out, Short, sweet, and to the point, my goal is to share tips that I’ve found useful.
Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
Stephen Amell, the actor who plays Oliver Queen / Green Arrow on the TV show, Arrow. I’m usually a very outgoing person, but I found myself completely tongue-tied in his presence.
What other authors are you friends with, and how do they inspire you to become a better writer?
My journey to being a published author grew out of my friendship with Autumn Reed, who I co-authored The Stardust Series with. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to become friends with many other talented writers. I know they’ve all inspired me in some way, and I hope they can say the same for me.
What is your ideal harem? Slow burn or give it to me now baby?
I’m going to invoke #whychoose on this one. I’m a fan of both slow burn and heat as a reader and a writer. The Stardust Series is a contemporary slow-burn reverse harem for sure! But Charms of Attraction, and the rest of the books in the Cursed Legacy Series, are less so, and I’ve enjoyed the change of pace.
